Phytocannabinoid Feature
We wanted to shed a little light on some of the other components to our CBD products. Our Full Spectrum Tincture uses a phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil, which contains all the potent plant medicinals, including cannabinoids, terpenes, chlorophyll, flavanoids, and fatty acids.
What is a Phytocannabinoid?
Phytocannabinoids can be understood as any plant-derived natural product capable of either directly interacting with cannabinoid receptors or sharing chemical similarity with cannabinoids or both. Phytocannabinoids are a type of aromatic compound found nearly exclusively in Cannabis Sativa. Within the cannabis plant, there are 113 known phytocannabinoids. Some have been found to be more useful than others to medical patients. When testing our tinctures, we keep a keen eye on the levels of the following key component cannabinoids, sought after for their medicinal benefits.
Cannabigerol (CBG)
Antibiotic. Anti-Fungal. Anti-Inflammatory. Pain Reliever.
The non-acidic form of this molecule is in essence the parent from which all other cannabinoids are synthesized from. Although considered a minor constituent, during the growing process this chemical is paramount. CBG interacts with both the CB1 and CB2 receptors to provide a variety of benefits in the realms of antibiotics (primarily treating neurodegenerative disorders such as ALS). Cannabigerol is being studied for the ways it slows bacterial growth, reduces inflammation, and inhibits cell growth in tumor and cancer cells.
Cannabinol (CBN)
Sedative. Anti-Inflammatory. Anti-Convulsant. Antiemetic. Neuroprotectant.
Cannabinol is created when THC-A oxidizes and found more prevalent in more mature plant matter. It is coveted as a sleep aid and a sedative, and provides optimal results when taken alongside other cannabinoids. Studies are tracking the ways that this compound can assist the immune system to provide relief to Arthiris and Crohn’s patients from pain and inflammation. Extensive research is also underway to study its effects on Glaucoma, and intraocular eye pressure. Most noteworthy, this chemical is a major component in cannabis derived medicinals for treating epilepsy.
Cannabichromene (CBC)
Anti-depressant. Anti-microbial. Anaglesiac. Gastric and Digestive Relief.Cannabichromene forms when cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) is converted into cannabichromenic acid (CBCA) during the cannabis plant growth cycle. If and when it is exposed to ultraviolet light or heat, CBCA is then finally converted into CBC. This chemical binds with receptors in the body linked to pain perception, when activated increased levels of the body’s own endocannabinoids are released. CBC may contribute to the regeneration of brain cells and the production of new neurons through a process known as neurogenesis. CBC plays a significant role in the anti-cancer and anti-tumor capabilities of cannabis.
